Hercule Poirot's New Year celebration: Author: Agatha Christie Language: Arabic Publication date: 2016 Book format: Paperback Publisher: Jarir Bookstore Number of pages: 234 Book category: Short stories and novels Description: Stephen raised his coat collar while walking actively on the train station platform, and a dark fog gathered above his head covering the entire station, and the huge train engines roared loudly releasing thick clouds of smoke into the cold air, and everything was dirty and covered with smoke. Stephen thought with disgust: "What a dirty country - what a dirty city." His first impression of London with its shops, restaurants, and elegant attractive women had faded, and he now saw it as a glowing unicorn living in a dirty environment. Oh, if only he could return to South Africa now... and he was quickly overwhelmed with nostalgia for home, where there is shining sun, clear skies, lush gardens, blue flowers, tropical lead plants, and blue ivy plants hanging over small rural houses. Here, there is only dirt, soot, and an endless number of people causing congestion - moving quickly and pushing as if they were ants seriously running in their colony. Stephen thought for a moment: "I wish I hadn't come...". Then he remembered why he came, and he pursed his lips in a frown. No, he would continue, he had planned it for years, and he always intended to do what he would do. Yes, he would continue. Suddenly he felt hesitation for a moment and asked himself: "Why? Is it worth it? Why cling to the past? Why not erase it all from my mind?" All of this stemmed from his weakness. He is not a little boy whose opinion changes according to fleeting whims, but a strong man with a purpose, and he will continue until the end, and he will do what he came to England to do. Stephen boarded the train and walked through its corridor searching for an empty seat to sit in, took his leather bag from the porter, and walked while carrying it, looking inside each carriage, but the train was fully occupied. Today was three days before the start of the new year, and Stephen looked with disdain at the full train carriages.
